Best way to socialize my mini

Im wating for the arrival of my first mini in late april. What is the best way to socialize her? I have 2 small children that are use to being around large horses but am wondering how to introduce them to the mini. Should we give her an bit of alone time when she first arrives or be with her as much as possible?
Also I want to take her for walks, what should I focus on teaching her befor we venture off. Any other fist should know things would be helpful too. Thanks
Oh and heres a pic

OMG! She is so cute! I just want to hug her! I am partial to paints/pintos!

I hope you get some good solid advice. I come to this board for advice, don't really *give* advice because there are so many knowledgeable horse people on these boards that I am learning from. I am sure it will be a matter of time and daily handling.

Enjoy your adorable mini! Do you have a name picked out for her yet?
