Talking Introduction and my new Mini!

Hi everyone!

My name is Jenni and I live in south Georgia. My first horse was a Miniature colt named Pumpkin that I bought as a foal in 2001. In 2005 I found him killed inside his run-in shelter. I am 95% sure it was coyotes. It absolutely broke my heart in two (I still dream about him all the time). I loved him so much!

5 years after the death of Pumpkin I realized it was time to get another Miniature. So, on Nov. 1st I go to pick up the 6 month old Mini colt I'm getting! I am so excited!! At first I was not too crazy about him because he wasn't as attractively proportionate as the other colt I was looking at, but the other one was half wild and this one was sweet and mellow, letting me pet and scratch him while the other one huddled against the far side of the pen. Personality wins for me.

He is a strange gray/brown color (looks gray in some pictures but brown in others - his coat does that in person too - strange). But on top of that base color he is a pintaloosa. Tobiano blotches with faint spots on his hindquarters. He has one blue eye and a pretty, small, delicate head.

My fiance is deployed to Iraq right now (3 months into a year long tour), so I'm pretty lonely. I know this colt will be just the right thing for me - a "snuggle buddy"! He didn't have a name so I decided to name him Koda - a Dakota Sioux word for "friend".

I have never shown before, and I hope to do some showmanship with him next year. Just for fun!

Here is a link to my album of Koda on my Facebook page:

I hope that links works! If it doesn't let me know!

Aw! He is a cutie =) Pintaloosas are very common in miniatures. I knew a lady who had a mini app stud and paint mini mares. The babies would barely drop to the ground and get sold right up!

Good luck with yours, keep us posted!

I am so sorry about your loss. One time, my dog got out and killed my baby goat. No where near a little horse, so I know how sad and horrible that must have been for you.

Hi and Welcome to the forum!

So very sorry to hear about your other mini, I am so glad you decided to go ahead and get another.
Koda will certainly help. I love your choice of names, very appropriate!

Are you able to post any pics of him here? I was not able to see your facebook album.
By your description, it sounds like his color is very similar to my little pinto Me Jo. When he is body clipped he looks pretty much gray and white, but then as he starts getting in his longer winter coat it looks kind of "taupe" in color.

Would love to see him!

Congrats on your new mini! He is adorable. His color is silver black, aka silver dapple. One of my favorites :)

My first mini was also killed, but by a mountain lion. *hugs* I know how hard it is :(

Can't wait until you get your new boy home and share all your adventures with us :)

Thanks CheyAut for clarifying his color for me! Also, I'm sorry to hear about your horse getting killed by a mountain lion. That is just terrifying to think of.
