    mini sheaths,,,

    Ok guys,

So its that time again! Sheath cleaning. One problem, first off, the mini I am working with has very rarely, if ever, had his sheath clean, he is very good about it though, (i was just getting him used to the idea with a wet cloth the other day). But no matter what I do, I cannot get him to drop. In fact, I have never seen him drop. He is always tucked in. I have been told you can gently pull out their penis, but I cannot fit my hand up there. He is to tiny and my hand it to large.

Any tips on how you guys get your tricky minis clean?

Honestly... I've never thought about that!!

To do a thorough sheath cleaning you DO put your hand inside. Otherwise you're just cleaning the penis which is a small part of the job (though the bean is important).

That said, I have no idea what is typically done with minis.. interested to see!

Its not the end of the world as long as he isn't having trouble peeing. A lot of horses go their entire lives without a sheath cleaning. If its a problem the vet can give him a muscle relaxer and it will hang out. As as he pees ok he will be fine.
