I am new to this site and I was hoping someone could tell me how close my mini was to foaling. I got her on April 12, 2013 and a few months after that notice she may be in foal. I called the previous owner and was told they did not breed her and she was just fat. My Vet confirm she was in foal. I have no idea when she got breed but it happen before April 12 the date I got her. The first picture is of her the day after I got her and the second picture was took on the 13th of Feb. 2014. This is my first mare. I always owned geldings.
My mare was near a stallion but would have nothing to do with him. Breeder is careful to hand breed to protect both horses. She said my mare wanted to kill her stallion when he got too close. Would you believe she went thro a lengthy false pregnancy. Our vets didn't have a portable ultrasound to confirm. One day she literally deflated, teats went back to normal and vulva tightened up.
I have read other stories about false pregnancy and I was actual thinking that about Jazz for the longest time. I had the vet to come out three times to confirm her pregnancy. This will be her second foal. She deliver her first (filly) July 2012 and owners didn't breed her then either. She is a sneaky little girl.
Her belly is looking different this morning. She is maintaining a small bag. It has been 330 days since I bought her. It should be soon. I am going to call Vet Monday to look at her.
I keep checking this thread hoping to see pics of a mini foal Your photos are very educational; I know what to look for now if I decide to breed my mare. Posted via Mobile Device
Maybe you should have the vet out again to confirm it?
I got a mare a while back who was "in foal" even the vet said so... Turned out to be a false pregnancy.. ever had that strange sense of both joy and disappointment? I did!!
He was schedule for today but he got hurt so now it will be next week sometime. View attachment 389762
I doubt myself sometimes but then I go out there and see the little burger kicking up a storm.
My little girl is spending her morning up and down rolling.
