But how are O So and Pippin coming along?
Have they been in together yet?
Any more pics to share?
First off, Hobbs is very nice looking!
Now, yes, yes I do have more pics! LOL A lot!
They are doing great. I put them together the next day. They appeared to be fighting, but it was just establishing dominance and playing at the same time! I tried to separate them a dinner time, but once O So disappeared into his stall, Pippin started whinnying and pacing. So after I let him eat what he would eat, between pacing, I let them back together. I was going to separate them that night, but changed my mind once I saw how well they were getting along.
The next day I went and bought another feeder for Pippin. I was going to put it outside under the old shelter for O So, but changed my mind. I put it right in the stall I have O So's feeder in. I just put it in the corner down the wall from O So's. I was amazed to see what happened. When I fed I gave them both the same amount of feed. They went to a feeder each, and stayed there. I was amazed. So now feeding is really easy too. I decided to feed them the same stuff, even though O So was not on Stable Mix. He now gets a glass full too. Eventually I will most likely wean them both back off of it and feed my original Hay and Strategy, but for now they both get a little Strategy, little bit of Stable Mix and Orchard Hay. I have cut down the amount that they get of the Strategy and Stable Mix, but pretty much feed the hay free choice. I decided to go this route because Pippin was on the Stable Mix and it was to hard to separate them at feedings. I didn't want to just cold turkey quit feeding Pippin the Mix, and I knew O So is really great about making changes, so figured this was the best route to go.
Wow, kind of got into the feeding thing! LOL Anyway, they are the best of buds now, already! They share the stall, mainly to eat. They like to stay outside for the most part.
Pippin is a bit shy, but he is also very curious. If O So comes over to me, then Pippin is right behind, but wont get to close. He will get close enough to smell my hand and let me touch his nose, but that is about it. If I try to get closer he will walk off. I am able to catch him though. So that is good.
Today I haltered them both and tied them up side by side, with about 3 ft between them. It was fun to clean on horses feet, then go the other, then brush one, then the other.
Pippin is pretty good at letting me do all that. Only thing I have found that he doesn't care for me to do is mess with is "stuff". So that will take some work, but hopefully I will succeed in time.
I better shut up and show some pics! LOL
Here are a couple of videos.
The first one is their first meeting. I actually stopped filming to break them up, but then started shooting again and you can see them drinking from the same bucket!
Here is another video. It is over 4 minutes long though, so not dial up friendly!
I have some more settled down pics but I haven't updated them to my Photobucket yet!
