Rocky Mountain Rejoice

First off, thanks Mike for taking on my suggestion and starting up a miniature horse section Really appreciate it, thanks a million.

Now onto my miniature mare. I have posted pictures of her a few weeks ago but here is the official thread for her. I bought her a yearling, she is now 10 years old. She is a registered miniature horse, actually has double registration because of her height. She is 34 inches tall.

I haven't done it in years, I had her going up to 2'6 and jumped full jumper courses (oxers, triple bars, liverpools). I also had her trained to canter on voice command. Once I am recovered from surgery, I want to start trick training her, jump again and looking into teaching her to drive.

Her nose is just to kissable in that photo

now I've heard numerous people say NEVER to turn a mini with a full horse.
I would never with a wild, crazy (or hotter) horse but wouldn't think twice putting one with my TB who doesnt care about any animals but cows....

whats your take on this?

16 year old TWH Mare named Ginger
3 year old APHA Paint Gelding named Fox.

I think it's ridiculous. Unless the horse you are putting in with the mini has an issue with minis or other smaller species of animal I dont see why it would be a problem. I've put my horses in with my minis for 9 years. Never had an issue.

It doesn't make sense to me why you wouldn't. You should question whoever to you this and see what their reasoning is. I'd be curious to hear why.

Cheers.

This is why: One misplaced kick, even in play, could seriously injure or kill a mini.

This is one of what if and in case. This is one of those things you would do at your discretion but that's why donkeys and miniatures make companion animals in the first place, BECAUSE they work perfectly with any animal.

I watched an episode of Chris Cox on RFD TV. He had a miniature stallion named peanut that he would turn out with a group of colts about 2 years old.
That mini had those colts in line and was giving them what for in no time.
Many of them are real powerhouses in those little bodies.
I always admire any I see. Rejoice is a real beauty M2G, I'm sure you are going to enjoy her.

Congrats on getting the mini section! And she's absolutely GORGEOUS! Who wouldn't want an official thread about her!!!
Am hoping to get a mini as a companion horse, you know, as soon as the coffers are rattling again!!! lol
