I am on my way to getting a mini horse. My 19 year old Arabian gelding is going to be semi-retired due to some joint problems. He has been my riding driving buddy for a long time. Anyway, I am woundering how I can haul my mini. I dont have a large truck to pull a big old trailer. Let alone I dont have one. So I was wondering how you pull your minis. I did see a few cool ideas online. Like this one.

This looks like a great idea. My little truck could pull this no prob.

They do make lighter-duty trailers that would be appropriate for a mini – older Brenderups can be hauled by an SUV. You can also find single-horse trailers that might work. I have a Subaru Forester that is rated to tow 2400 lbs, and did a lot of research on the possibility of a single-horse trailer for hauling a mini.

I’ve also seen folks who converted mini vans or panel vans to work for hauling minis – they basically stripped down the inside and built a plywood box bolted to the floor, with a place to tie them during transport.

Actually< i have seen them hauled in the back of a van!
Found this on amini horse forum, and will just paste, without link, as I do not know if that is okay

'One of my clients carries 3 in the back of her mini van and has for years.
Be happy to send you her email address if you like.

The horse trailer we have is an old (and I mean OLD) stock trailer, with the front portion converted (somewhat) into a tack room. I stick my mini in there. She can wander around and still gets airflow and I don't have to worry about her getting under my QH or hurting herself on the partitions. I just have to make sure everything is up off the floor.

But I will second everything Mule said. Small 1 horses should work and the back of a cargo van would be awesome. Many people have 2 horses converted to a 3 or 4 mini horse trailer, and you can buy a mini horse specific trailer. There are also horse haulers that can go in the back of a truck like a camper, but I'm sure it would be hard to get a hold of one of those last minute... I want one so bad though!

Search Lil Beginnings Miniature horse talk forum, their members have some awesome ideas and boards on the subject.

Congrats on the addition!
