Additionally and equally sad is that many young people today have never even heard of John Denver. They listen to gangsta rap and trashy pop music that glorifies drugs, sex, and violence and think that that's real music.

JD certainly isn't/wasn't the only "good" musician out there, but he was amongst the very best, in my opinion.

    I agree, it's sad.

I grew up with Jacques Cousteau, his team and the Calypso, and no matter how much more sophisticated underwater photography gets, those images shot by Jacques and his crew mean the world to me.

When he died it was for sure the end of a magnificent era, and it felt like the whole world mourned.

I can't hear the song without getting misty eyed, either.

Always liked him, and even more so when he was on a talk show in the UK, the host asked him about Country Roads, and he just sat there and sung it.

In an era of big productions, and when we knew that pop acts were all miming to their records on TV, it was kind of shocking to hear a guy just sing his hit song, no backing track or anything, just awesome.

Love him!! My dad, sister, and I used to sing Take Me Home, County Roads allll the time. It's now just a favorite for a childhood memory. We'd go to the store to get a candy bar and a drink then go ride around our hunting club checking things there.
