Could anyone recommend a good horse movie?

I am tired up to my throat of the Lassie / Black Beauty type movies.

Is there such a movie where the animal does not:

- fight 5 banditos
- rescue its owners from a deep pit
- have wings
- sing
- and so on and so forth?

I'd really like to see a movie or a documentary about horses / horseworld that is not filled with glittery romance. Those are nice too, but I'm kind of tired of them.

In Pursuit of Honor

It's a story based on the last U.S. Cavalry Remount unit.

Some have said it's true, while others have said it never happened. Either way, even though it's a horse movie we see them as horses, not as some magical creature who saves Timmy from the well.

The heroes in the movie are human, but the story is very much about horses.

Seabiscuit is my favorite.

I recently watched Sylvester. It was very unrealistic but it did show some good rolex scenes. It did have some romance in it though. I've been looking for some good horse movies too.

So far I've been filling my time watching training mini-documentaries on youtube, such as this one:


I have no idea if her methods are correct or not. But I just find this lady so funny, heart-warming, humorous and fair.

And instead of horse books, I've been reading this forum's section Member Journals. Some of them, such as Breaking Latte, are actually like a very good realistic book, with ups and downs :)

Plus, they help a lot with my daydreaming. I can't afford a horse for now, but I can daydream about an imaginary one as much as I want. It's free

Just so you know... Timmy never actually fell in a well...

Something to talk about is really good. The focus isn't on the horses but the horses are throughout the movie.

The horse whisperer wasn't all that great in my opinion (not as good as the book)

Dreamer is really cute

Second Chances is a really good tear jerker

The Derby Stallion is pretty cute

The original Flicka movies are good. My friend Flicka, Thunderhead, and Green Grass of Wyoming. Those books are really good also.

Phar Lap is a really sad, but good movie.

The Man from snowy River is one of my favorite movies.

My friend Flicka is really good too.

And last, but not least, Hidalgo.
