Unhappy Dark Shadows

Went to see it with my daughter and sister last night. Not sure what I was expecting, but I was a bit bored. My sister actually fell asleep (had to wake her when she started to snore ), and I kept thinking , "what am I missing here?".

Anyone else see it yet? What did you think of it.

I put it on my Neflix queue, since there's no way I'll pay theater prices for a movie like that.

Looks like typical Tim Burton fare, which to be honest, is getting old. He seems to be a one-trick pony lately, although I did enjoy Sweeney Todd.
Walkamile, Ink and 2muchcoffeeman like this.

I kinda wanted to go see it, but then I heard from quite a few people that it wasn't very good. I might red-box it when it comes out on video, but I'm saving my monthly movie theatre budget for Brave

Ink I think that's a wise move. It would be fine to watch at home, just didn't measure up to the "big screen", you know?

I couldn't stop laughing, quietly of course, when my sister went to sleep. We grew up watching Dark Shadows when it was on a 4:00 every weekday. Ah, such memories!

What did amuse me though, were all the people on IMDb having a conniption over the movie. C'mon y'all, the movie is based on a hokey, corny, silly soap opera that originally aired in the 1960s!

I hardly think the movie is 'demeaning to the memory of the original Dark Shadows'!

I think anyone who DIDN'T grow up watching Dark Shadows will have more questions than answers with this movie. If you can accept it for what it is and not compare it to the t.v. Show, it's fine and actually pretty humorous. My husband kept asking me questions through out so I came home a recorded a bunch of the 90's remake series so he'd shut up, LOL!

I love Johnny Depp and enjoyed the movie and I enjoyed that it didn't take itself too seriously either. But the story line was pretty jumbled if you weren't familiar with all the DS (or should I say, Dark Mic) back stories.

Too funny SR. If memory serves well, the acting on the original DS was....how to say......very over done! But, back then I didn't know any different and loved all the dark magic happening!

I preferred David Selby's Quinton Collins werewolf character to Jonathan Frid's Barnabus Collins vampire one, anyway.
