Even though the original Star Trek was cheesy and campy I still prefer it over the newer versions, although I found John Luc Picard extremely smexy. Nobody does campy better than William Shatner!

The new Star Trek movie was excellent, except that they took the original history and completely skewed it. I remember watching the opening scenes and thinking, "Hey! George Kirk can't die; James is always talking about his father in the original series!"
LOL I enjoy the old Trek's for a good laugh but that's about it. I do really like Patrick Stewart, he's the **** and everthing I have ever seen him do was just wonderful. I truly believe that he was born to play Professor X though. His look, his voice, and his mannerisms were just perfect in that role.

The history of the new movie is one of the reasons why DVDs with the special features are the best invention. The reason why the whole history was a little bit off is because it is a different timeline. The timeline from the old shows is the one where Leonard Nimoy came from (which is why he was so confused when he first met young Kirk), where the Romulans never destroyed his Dad's ship and he grew up his whole life just wanting to be in star fleet. But because of the singularity thing caused by Spock's red-matter device thingy that sucked in the Romulan ship, the whole sequence of Kirk's timeline was changed and created the movie that we saw.

I hope I made that confusing enough LOL.

Oh no, I understand the new timeline and how it happened. It was just kind of confusing before they got to that part, how the history of each character was so different than what I remembered.

Uhura and Spock were NEVER an item in the old timeline. We mustn't forget it was the 1960s, and interracial coupling was still too taboo a subject for primetime TV shows to tackle.

It was okay for Kirk to have sex with green women, but black and white together? Shocking!!!

LOL, right. Okay, I get where you're coming from now. Since I was never a huge fan of the old shows, I wasn't familiar with the old timeline so I didn't have that problem.

Gosh, it was shocking to some people when the hero in The Omega Man (Charleton Heston) had a love affair in the movie with a black woman.

That movie was released in 1971, so things were turning around considering interracial couples, but weren't there yet.
