Favorite Superhero!

Call me crazy but I LOOOOOVE The Flash (Barry Allen version) well basically any superhero in general I love...

And yes. I still read all the comics, and watch all the little animated shows of JLU and superman, batman, all that jazz. Aha I just love em.

But The Flash definitely is number 1 on my list.
I wish I could run that fast!
(and yes when I first read that he died in Crisis on Infinite Earths I did indeed wanna cry)

Another good one I like is Nightwing...hes not all mopey and gloomy like Batman and he (imo) is a better fighter than the Dark Knight

(i know I know im a nerd)

So just curious if anybody else is as big a nerd as me and loves them some heroes? Haha

Oh I am definitely a nerd! I was actually thinking about starting a "nerds" thread here...

Honestly, I haven't read as many comics as I'd like to. I LOVE the genre and the few that I HAVE read, but it feels like I'm coming in kind of late to the game, if you know what I mean - I'm 28, have no friends I can borrow them from, and feel a little overwhelmed when I walk into a comic book store! Where to start???

Anyway, the few that I HAVE read, I'm pretty sure I'm a DC girl. I love Batman but I would want to read a few more before deciding who is really my 'favourite.'

What did you think of the last Batman movie? I'm actually watching Iron Man 2 right now... lol!

And what other 'nerdy' things do you like? I'm a fan of all things Joss Whedon, Doctor Who, Sherlock (BBC, of course), LOTR (my horse's name is Éowyn), Wheel of Time, and... um... I collect swords. If that's not nerdy, I don't know what is...

I used to collect comics in college. I wanted to be an illustrator.
I'm a Marvel kid.
I always loved "Storm"
Especially when she had the mohawk

Im totally DC all the way!

I really liked the newest batman movie...but Christopher Nolan imo just kinda went off on his own tangent with the batman movies. They don't really coincide with what I have read in the comics...and I always vote book over movie anyways.
But he did have some good solid similarities and qualities to the movies that I liked.

Marvel im kinda eh. I like iron mand and capt. America but they just arent asd good imo. I also havnt read NEARLY as many marvel as I have DC so I can't really say.

I know how you feel with the whole comics thing...i started reading em as soon as I COULD read in 1st grade so '96-'97 is when I started and I was already behind. I always just borrowed my buddies comics

Now its like pulling out hair trying to find my fav. Issues haha

Oooh flytobecat you kill me with the marvel haha. I've hardly read any of those so I have to base my opinion purely on what tv/movies I've seen...which im not that impressed with

(though I can't say much for DC either....DC definitely has a better animation thing going imo)

Wow instyle...that is one mouthful of a name haha. I am DEFINITELY naming a horse and or dog Flash though in the future! Hahaha

So Roper, if I wanted to start reading some Flash, where would be a good place to start?

(About the swords & knives - slashing up milk jugs and straw bales is pretty fun, isn't it? ;) It's great stress relief... I've never painted a face on a milk jug, but I can't say I've never thought about it!)

Oh goodness. It just depends. Theyve changed the character up so much.

The best representations of the flash (all incarnations/versions whatever) I've seen are from the Crisis series...they actually have them on Kindle if you have a kindle

The Flash first appeared in its own comic series "Flash Comics" and "The Flash" those ended with Crisis on Infinite Earths when Barry Allen died (sad face my fav flash)

The others also appeared in the JLA/JLU comics

And The all had somewhat of a reboot with "Flashpoint" and "The Flash:Rebirth" where Barry Allen comes back from the dead

Its kind of a hit or miss to get good stories with him.

Haha right? Me and my dad will go out and throw knives for hours into a bale of hay....but I don't use my good ones any more

Last year we were fooling around throwing my set of 12 Blue Angel throwing knived into a bale, and it had wires instead of twine....long story short I chipped one fo my knives on that stupid wire so now I use my cheapos haha.

Oooh, ouch. I don't use my favourite swords either. They're fully functional, but I'd feel so bad if something happened to them - and both of them aren't in production anymore either. So, they're on my wall. Historically accurate, sharpened swords make good interior decor, right...?

(At first my husband thought I was nuts - then he sliced his first milk jug. He's never looked back! )
