I'm listening to the books on CD while I do barn chores - currently on A Feast for Crows
Not sure if I could watch it on TV - its a bit steamy in parts to put it mildly
The books are different to the TV series in some places so people that die in one aren't dead in the other (and vice versa) which is going to maybe get even more confusing when the last book comes out if someone that's been killed off on TV is going to be a key player in the next book

I really like it, too, but I only have watched the first 2 seasons, after viewing them and then buying them AND the finale of the 3rd season (free DISH weekend.)
I am indifferent to Jon Snow, LOVE Caleesi, and the Imp, like the younger Stark girl. I understand that the death toll is pretty high, so don't get attached to anyone in the story! My DD is reading the books and says that some chapters are ponderously slow.

Jaydee, some of the scenes that are "steamy" in the books are downright boiling in the show LOL. If you don't like watching that kind of thing, then you might not like it. BUT, the good thing about having it on DVD is that you can just fast forward when that stuff comes on until they start showing something better.

I have no idea. I don't think it's going to be soon because I can't find a release date anywhere, even on his own website.

Well, it was a lot later than he originally intended because he had to scrap it and start over again.

Wiki says that The Winds of Winter is now due to be released in 2014 but nothing about the planned book to follow that that's supposed to be called A Dream of Spring
I guess its a wait and see thing
Smrobs - I think I'll leave the TV version alone as the book (CD) even makes my horses blush!!!

Bumping up an old thread - we are so close to season 4!!

For those that wonder, the next book has been delayed until 2015.

Someone also mentioned that they were worried about the killing off of characters that were not killed off in the book. Be aware of two things - George is very actively involved in the show, and the only two people who know the ending of the story (aside from George) are two of the producers.

Mods, grant me the serenity to see the opinions I cannot change, courage to change the ones that should change, and the wisdom to spot the trolls.

Yikes, if he doesn't hurry up with the book, the show is going to catch up with him .

As far as characters, my favorite gets killed in Dance with Dragons so I really don't care about the rest of them
