I might be the oldest member here who loves the Hunger Games, but here's my two cents anyway.

You can't really be too critical. The movie was already almost 2 1/2 hours long, to put in all that detail you are all talking about would have made the movie insanely long. The small changes didn't bother me in the least, Twilight did the same thing only a lot worse, so I was actually very pleased with how true to the books they were. I think a voice over throughout the whole movie would have gotten annoying after a while, if you read the books, you know what she's thinking. That being said, I definitely think the movie was geared toward people who HAVE read the books. I saw it with a bunch of family who hadn't read the books and ended up having to explain some things to them, but they still really liked it.

One thing I'm actually glad they shortened in the movie was the length of time they spent in the cave. In the book they did way too much kissing in that time, it was super cheesy with cheesy lines and it would have played out that way on screen. I'm glad they left it at one kiss on the cheek and one long kiss, still got the point across without all the cheesiness.

I don't really agree, the part in the cave was one of my favourite parts..

Same. I didn't so much want to go for the kissing so much as, I wish they had emphasized how bad Peeta's leg really was. I mean, they showed it a little, but they didn't emphasize the blood poisoning.

Also, I agree about the voiceover. I mean, it doesn't have to be a CONSTANT thing, but every now and then. Like I would have liked to hear her explain at the beginning of the movie about the starving in district 12, and about WHY Gale's name is in there 42 times and WHY Prim's is only in there once. Just little things like that.

Pssh.I didn't pick up the wrong lead
It's called a counter canter...
...A very advanced maneuver.

A little obsession is good right? XD

I must ask where did you get all this stuff?!

I definitely agree with this. If they were to make the cave scene longer or bring Madge into the mix, other things would have to be cut shorter, and then people would be complaining about that. As Whisper said, you can't be too critical, because there is no way they can follow the book exactly. I think they did a great job of choosing the important parts. The movie actually exceeded my expectations.

I definitely liked the movie, and will be buying it when it comes out on dvd, but I'm just putting in what I thought might have made it better/easier to follow. I did not expect it to follow the book exactly.

@Whisper22: I think you did a very good job of summarizing the book/movie in comparison to one another, and I agree with everything you said. Especially the part of it being geared more to those who have already read the the books. I can see how it might get confusing for those who haven't, or little happenings in the movie just wouldn't have the same impact on those who have read the book.
