Well, duh! I don't even see how you are excited for the movie if you haven't read the book. Makes no sense...

Based on the book, Peeta! But in the movie, Gale is so... Hmm... Perfect? I don't like their choice in Peeta... Liam was kind of my ideal Peeta but they switched it up :)

Literally read the Hunger Games in 4 hours, can't wait until I can get my hands on catching fire! :)

I really enjoyed the first book! It was absolutely amazing! The next two books I didn't think we're as good. I'm very excited for the movie!

Really? How many Star Wars books have you read? You know there's a whole raft of 'em, right?

Black Beauty, Gone With the Wind, Harry Potter, My Friend Flicka, Lord of the Rings, Bladerunner, etc. were all originally from books. Have you read every book that was ever made into a movie? I seriously doubt it, so your snarky condescension is waaay off base here.

Nobody HAS to read a book before they see a particular movie. I'm pretty sure they'll be able to get the plot.

Do I think books are better than the movies made from them? Generally yes, because in a visual medium things have to be altered, condensed, or left out entirely in order to make a story flow better. But that doesn't mean someone won't enjoy a movie if they haven't read the book first.

You want the truth? You can't HANDLE the truth!

I freaking love The Hunger Games. I read them last summer. Got my tickets for the movie sitting on my counter as for Peeta or Gale... While I read the books I was more for Gale, but I'm not sure now! And LIAM HEMSWORTH! (spelling?) I love him, and JOSH HUTCHERSON. I say they are both pretty easy on the eyes and that I am going to enjoy watching this movie just because of them, lol. Haha sorry, just needed my superficial moment. Can not wait for the movie! I think I am going to reread the books this week...

Oh my God. Seriously? I was joking around. But to answer your question, I have read all of the books you suggest except Gone with the wind ...and i never saw the movie. -and bladerunner? Never even heard of that....

Exactly. In fact sometimes the movie is even more enjoyable when you haven't read the book first. That way you're not going in with a set vision of what you think everything should look like and setting yourself up for disappointment. That being said, I do usually try to read the book before seeing the movie adaptation. But that's just me not wanting to know what's going to happen when I read the book.

I do think the Hunger Games is worth reading though! It's up to you if you want to try and read it before or wait until you've seen the movie.

I started the series about a week ago and just finished them last night. I was hooked by the first one but also thought they got progressively worse.

They were definitely riveting, but I thought the author could have done a lot more with them. I feel like the content was too mature for the writing style. I wish the author had done more to create a more believable story without expecting the audience to take everything at face value. Maybe relied less on gore for the shock factor. Also, this may have just been my copy (I read an electronic one), but there were enough spelling/grammatical errors in the first book for it to be distracting.

I hated the ending of the third book. For me, there was no sense of resolution or emotional closure.

That being said, the series was a good break from all the heavy reading for school. I will be watching the movie.
