Oh my gosh, yes. That is another thing. When they change out horses with a "stunt double" and the other horse looks nothing like the original horse. I hate to admit I watched all of Wildfire too but I did. Then Wildfire had a baby and the baby was a chestnut with 4 whites or something, then when they found him at the bad home later, he was a Bay with no whites. ha ha The girl was absolutely sure she knew Flame. I was like I mean, Couldn't they at the very least find a horse that looked a little the same... maybe the same base color? ha ha

I think that more shows would keep going if the writers didn't try to over do everything. They get people into the show by creating these, good or bad characters that you love to love or love to hate, then they make the good ones do something really crappy and leave us... angry. I lose interest in shows when they go out of their way to change characters. You can always tell when they are reaching and have lost the original idea of the show. Then in the final episode they try to tie all the loose strings together and leave a person thinking "What the heck was that?"

I also liked how they changed silks every single race lol. I'm pretty sure they used stock racing footage though (at least in the first season) so that probably had something to do with it.

I liked the "the black" It was atv show based on the black beauty story. Often times though, his TB was a friesian, or some thing of the Big black sort. lol

Well, at least they got the color right, unlike in the show Wildfire where the Chestnut Colt with 4 whites grows up to be a Bay Stalion with no markings. Then girl (the maine character) Sees him in an old barn and knows right away that it is him. I am like...WHAT? Stupid.

I wish they could do more horse tv without it being so fake and silly.

Showjumper, I know what you mean about the Saddle Club. They are always leaving the horses stand there while they run off but then talk about how "hot their horses" are. ha ha

I know it is a kids show, so it isn't geared toward adults but... silly is silly no matter the age. The change in characters in that show is another annoying thiing. All of a sudden they are a different person but you are supposed to just follow along? I hate that about Tv.

I used to love the original Saddle Club, mainly because of the horses. I can't stand it now though, especially the newer seasons.

I watched a couple episodes of Heartland, and found the acting to be even worse. I think I might've seen one episode of Wildfire, and found that to be boring. The only horse TV show I've ever liked, then and now?

"The Silver Brumby" cartoons.

Movies are a different story though, there actually are a couple good ones out there. "Warhorse" is definitely a favourite of mine.

But yeah, TV shows typically suck. It's where the failures usually end up, and there are very few TV shows in general that I like.

Wildfire was the biggest disappointment ever. The first season wasn't terrible but the second was just plain awful. It was like they rushed through things. I wonder if things would've been different if the sure hadn't been canceled so quickly? Regardless I think the main character ended up with the wrong person.

Heartland isn't too bad but it isn't that great, either.

The Saddle Club used to be a good show when I was a kid. I could pick up the dodgy bits but I overlooked them because hey, there were actually horses on my TV!

We used to have a show on TV here called Outriders. It was a really good show but I can't seem to find the episodes. They had reruns on the other day and it's still just as good as I remember.

Since I work in a hospital I tend to notice problems in medical shows too. I too like to see "horse shows" just for the horses but get annoyed when the show takes stupid turns, is so off from a facts standpoint or they change characters with no explanation. Actor quits, then kill the character don't replace them with another person. That is just, creepy.

I sadly did not grow up with any horsy shows. :( I did discover the saddle club a few years back though, and trust me it's nothing like the new version.
For the first 2 "real" seasons of the show, the actors I find we're decent, considering it was a small production and they were young. I then got to season 3, and to my horror, the cast change, the set changed, everything was different!

The show is now really awful and I can't stand their acting. The girls on the 2 first seasons we're much more talented and the script was much less cheesy. Before it was borderline acceptable in my eyes, than in season 3 it just became pathetic.
I was super disappointed because I was beginning to like the show, and did not appreciate the horrible change they did. >< They ruined it! After watching the first 2 minutes of episode 1 season 3, I had to stop.
Inga likes this.

A ride a day keeps the worries away!
