I haven't seen too many horse shows that I really enjoy but I do like Heartland even as an adult viewer. I have watched it from the beginning and I like how the characters have developed over the years. My favs are Jack and Mallory. Maybe, it's a Canadian thing...I prefer horse movies like War Horse, Hidalgo, Seabiscuit, Secretariat, The Horse Whisperer, and Black Beauty among others.

Heartland is a good show as well, but the earlier seasons were better. It's now season 6 and I feel like they are stretching it, trying to find things to happen to the characters. However it's still a good show and they do a nice job with the horse parts.

Edit: haha paintlover, you posted right before me. ;)

A ride a day keeps the worries away!

Haha, I foxhunt about 5 minutes away from the Heartland Ranch. I didn't even know until a friend said something. Heartland is okay, but I got annoyed with Amy and her rather stuck-up attitude.

I don't like how Amy round pens horses. She chases the horse and puts constant pressure on, never relieving it for even an instant. She doesn't give the horse a chance to make good decisions or even think at all.

The episode that had the inmates training the mustangs was pretty ridiculous, imo.

The US is only in the third or forth season so I can't comment on later seasons. I only know that a lot of the training stuff bugs me.

Most people who watch "horse shows" are ones who don't know a thing about horses So I'm not surprised there are no good ones, I long gave up watching any... my friends often think I'm weird for never showing interest in watching any sort of horse movie either. Now that I know better, I pick the flaws out like popcorn out of a bowl.

Plus, 90% of the time the main character is some lovestruck teenager, I HATE those characters and they just plain get on my nerves.

Back to my science fiction with guns and big handsome men and butt-kicking women

I think the last one I saw was where the blonde gal goes to see the rodeo guy and he gets hurt. Was there anything beyond that one here in the US? Admittedly, I watched it on Netflix. I hadn't heard of it otherwise.

Sometimes I think some people only own horses because they watch those unrealistic shows lol. And everything they know is from the shows. Lol. And that's why there's bad owners. Haha. I like National Velvet. An all time favorite. Warhorse was sad though. I don't like Flicka. I don't like any of those movies like that. It's some teenage girl that magically has a bond with a wild horse...

There's been quite a but since then. It's on GAC and CW. GAC is further along.
