Now that's a story worth putting up on the big screen!

I couldn't agree more, Walka. They wouldn't even need to "hollywoodize" it the way they have to with other stories. It's dramatic enough already.

Yes, very true. I think that's what I had a difficult time with War Horse. There were moments, more then a few, where as a horse person, I was groaning at the exaggerated and unreal behaviors of the horse/s. I did like some of the human interactions. The German and American soldiers helping the horse in no mans land for instance. They could well have been in a bar sharing a beer, they were people, not enemies at the moment. Also, the German in charge of the horses pulling the big guns, he could easily be pictured as a man working in a toy store. Big , gentle man.

I have heard of this mare. This would make a fabulous movie, done right. Also a great documentary. Was looking on Amazon for other movies or documentaries. Found a few warhorse books that might be interesting. I love the you tube clips on this website. Thanks for the reference.

I know that the horse in War Horse was a gelding named Joey. I was referring to the mare Sgt Reckless that "smrob" was talking about. A mare that actually was used to carry amunition in the war.

I cried my eyes out during the movie!!
I would have liked there to have been some more information about the horses in the war, tho.
Also, some of the characters I thought looked very alike, &it got a little confusing for a while..Ionno, maybe Im just slow LOL.
But overall, I really liked it, &want to by it &watch it ALOT!
