Smile Extreme Mustang Makeover

My name is Angella Salerno. I am eighteen and I live in Avoca, NY. I have been around horses all my life and have never aspired to be anything other than a horse trainer. I trained my first horse, a little Morgan cross pony, when I was eleven years old and have been hooked ever since. To date, I have trained twenty-two horses under saddle and have worked with countless others.

I have been aware of Extreme Mustang Makeover for many years and have wanted to compete ever since I was sixteen. Last year I worked with a horse that was severely abused, which I feel gave me great insight to what it may be like to work with a wild horse as far as the level of difficulty is concerned. In my opinion my experience in gaining the trust of an abused horse would enable me to gain the trust of a wild Mustang, which has had no negative human contact. The safety and well being of all the horses that have ever been through my barn has always been my top priority, as would be the case with the Mustang if I were to be selected.

Good luck to you in trying the E.M.M. I've always thought it looked like a great competition.Your experience working with an abused horse will be helpful to you, but do not expect a mustang to act the way a domestic one does, even an abused domestic horse.

I have worked with both abused horses and mustangs and the experience is completely different, and I can't really put into words how its different. I don't want to discourage you from trying, but keep in mind a horse that grew up in the wild will be a very different animal than what you are probably used to, so keep an open mind and treat it like a learning experience, because, trust me, it will be that.

The first time your mustang comes to you and really wants to be with you, it is a thrill like nothing else! Do try the challenge and enjoy it, playing with a feral horse is something you will never forget doing.
