Ruffian, I used to just drop the lead and walk away but with him it's a very strong mental connection to me. When it's removed, he'll relax. What I have since learned when I walk away is that in order to beckon him to come to me I have only to stand facing him, extend one arm out sideways a bit and wiggle my hand, while he's at liberty. He won't move if ground tied. I'd tried every which way I could think of to beckon him and met with failure. My sleeve was binding my armpit and when I extended my arm to the side to try to shake it loose, he approached. Yesterday when the farrier arrived I did the same movement and he came and stood good as gold for haltering. Lately I've been feeling lots of yahoos.
