Join up without a Round Pen?

I've never actually joined up with my horse! I'm not into NH really, but I like to try new things whenever I can. I don't have a round pen at my barn and neither arenas are enclosed. SO is it possible to join up on the lunge line?

You can do it in any fenced area, but the horse really needs to be free so it can choose to be with you. The round pen is nice because there are no corners but it isn't a must have to be able to work with your horse.

My arenas have openings in the fence for 'gates', the arena isn't enclosed.

You can block off the opennings with tape or board or whatever.

Do you have a small turn out pen? You can use any fenced area, the bigger the pen the more work for you and it'll take longer too but it can be done.

I joined up with alli in a 4 acre field. Hard work mind, but I got it!! You just have to be very fit haha. As long as yoy can keep them moving around you, you should be able to achieve it
