Does anybody have any suggestions for natural horsemanship with weanlings? I know you cant do as much with yhen but i really wabt my horse to have that experience early on
I HIGHLY suggest Clinton Anderson's Foal Starting series.
I started my filly at three months old and it has done wonders for her.
She is now 17 months old and is doing the Advanced Level groundwork.
She is a very respectful, calm, and willing partner.
Whatever method you decide to follow (I much prefer CA's program to PP's), the only thing you really shouldn't do with a young horse is lunge them too much. A couple of minutes each way at a walk or slow trot is fine, but running them in circles for a long time every day can damage their growth plates and joints and predispose them to arthritis.
Pretty much anything else, including ground driving and the like, can be done as soon as the horse is mentally ready.
Is CA clinton anderson? Thank you for the advice.Id like to work on ground manners first like leading and personal space then work my way up.there are so many different trainers out there it leads to tough decisions.
