Question Parelli; huh?!

Hi, my friend said she is starting to use the Parelli tecnic on her horse. So I nodded along.
But, I don't know what it is!
I looked online on wikipedia. And I was still like WTH.
Can anyone explain to me what exactly Parelli is? What do you do?!

Parelli is a form of natural horsemanship that is presented in a program format. You start off learning the seven games in level 1 and expand on them throughout the levels 1-4. Levels 1-4 is all a home study program, if you want to advance on further in the levels to become a Parelli Professional (instructor) then you need to take course on one of the Parelli campuses but you don't have to do that if you don't want to. Many people get stuck in level 1 and that is why there is many haters off Parelli that say it doesn't work it only doesn't work because they are stuck and not moving on being positive progressive and natural.

That is very much NOT why so many people are not a fan of Parelli.

The main reason people are not a fan of Parelli is his ego is bigger than his ability and he sells his system as the end all and be all of training for every single horse and every single situation. Add in a dash of 'it is my way or you are cruel' that seems to be the motto of the Parelli groupies and that pretty much sums it up.

They market to the clueless crowd and convince them to fork over tons of money for useless expensive stuff and give them nothing in the way of an improved horse for it. They also convince the clueless green owner that they, themselves, with no help from anyone else, can train that wild mustsang they adopted for $200 just by using their video tapes.

I'm with you, Always.

Shauna, number of very good trainers and riders I know don't care for Parelli (and some don't like him). Don't you really think it's because they stuck on level 1?? I bet they do NOT care about level 1, 2, 25, or any "games". They just don't need it and they prove it all the time. Many of us (and I going to even include myself here even though I'm neither trainer, not the great rider) don't need Parelli to succeed with our horses.

It is the reason why people here in my country do not like it many of them have never seen Pat Parelli and wouldn't know how big an ego he has or if he has a big ego or not so I'm just speaking from my experience here in the country where I live I understand there are many different reasons everywhere in the world but that is the reason some of my friends HATE Parelli lol

I think he is like a lot of the other popular trainers out there, Pat Parelli, Julie Goodnight, Clinton Anderson....there are people out there that really LOVE them, and there are people out there that think they should stick it where the sun doesn't shine.

My opinion is if a person understands a trainers methods well, can implement them correctly and it works for them, all the more power to them. Not every method works for every person or every horse and it's all about what works best for you and your horse. I am saying this as a former Julie Goodnight fan. Yes I still use some of her methods, but I also found that some of Clinton Anderson's methods work well too. I've always wanted to learn the Parelli games, but not enough to look them up I guess because I still don't know them. I just want to see what they are, why they are so popular and if something works for Cinny, use it, otherwise just chalk it up to something I tried.

Lol, having a little bit of a debate here lol.
What is the whole aim of Parelli? Gaining confidance for you and your horse? Or just making a bond?!
And also, what type of stuff do you do? Like join up or something?
