I've never heard of Ed Dabney, I'll have to look into his training. Thanks for posting, I love finding out about other NH trainers! R.M. Miller and Buck Brannaman would be interesting, I've read things written by both but have never SEEN them at work.

I just read on Stacy Westfalls FB page-PP'e first horse had a heart murmur. They had to get him another. I wonder if they give some allowance for training time lost?

After the first day the horses were vet checked (vet checked after every work session) and Pat's horse was found unfit to continue. There was mention of both indigestion and a heart murmur. Regardless, he could not continue. The RTTH people allowed Pat to choose another horse and he started day 2 back at the very beginning of day 1. He brought the second horse up to speed in very little time. The judges were so impressed they gave him the highest score (for that portion of the judging) of 361. The next highest score went to Craig and was 330.

RTTH also allowed Pat to make up the second round-pen work this morning at 5:30. So, he is at a bit of a disadvantage due to his horse not getting the full rest period between sessions.

Ok, I gotta be the dumb one here... since I hadn't heard of this competition until I had heard of Stacey W.

How are the scores scored?
I know each person is given a score, which adds to the team total, but how do the judges go about scoring an individual or session?
