I've been studying and applying many different methods for over 15 years now and I can honestly say that I use bits and pieces from many different clinicians... including some of our local Montana trainers. I've been a No Worries Club member in the past and am currently a Savvy club member just soaking up as much as I can. I love Clinton Anderson, Pat Parelli, Chris Cox, Curt Pate, Mark Rashid, and John Lyons.. and I use bits and pieces from all of them and adjust to fit what my horse needs. I love Giddy Up Flix.. priceless!!

If I had to choose between Stacy and Pat, I'd choose Pat. I believe that his focus on the relationship with your horse and making sure your horse has a solid foundation is exactly the point of natural horsemanship in the first place. If you don't have a relationship with your horse and his foundation isn't solid, then nothing else really matters.

for me its Parelli, but that's only because i've only ever worked off of him and Jonathan Field. I love Jonathan though, he's based off of Parelli. That being said I have no experience with Westfall, except that i've watched her on youtube :P

the hardest part of riding is the ground... yup sounds about right

I agree you need to take something from all.

If you think PP has and builds better relationships with horses then Stacy then you need to take a better look at her trainng DVDs and her in general. Between the 2 she is 100 times the horseperson that PP is. You can see in when you watch them work and train and show their horses. You can also it in their videos. Also you do not have to pay to get invo and videos from Stacy.

Go to her web site. There are Videos there with her working with horses and showing some of her trainng. Of the 2 her methods work better as you can see with the end product of her horses vs PP horses.

What do you do with him now?

What type of a 'bond' are you looking for?

If you ask what other people do, you'll get an opinon. Some folks are biased against Parelli, some aren't that impressed with Westfall. There are tons of trainers out there. Yes, I've done Parelli, (don't like Stacey, just my opinion) Love Buck and Brent Graef. Wish I could have studied with Tom Dorrance and tend to study with folks that have. LOVE Carolyn Resnick. She's the reason my horse invited me to ride, bare back and bridless. This was on an unstarted arabian. Yes I accepted the ride and yes it was amazing. You have to find your own thang. Whatever works for your horse and you. Never drink the kool aid and always have an open mind. Check out Chris Cox, too. Nice guy, very good with horses. Take a clinic if you can. Never let anyone tell you this is the only way to go. Explore as many nh trainer as you can. Have fun. Best advice ever. If you get to goal orientated, too serious, you'll just burn yourself and your horse out. HAVE FUN. SMILE. This is like dating. Make time to just spend time with your horse. Go for a graze together. When you touch him, touch him with your heart. You will be fine. Keep a journal and write it all down. You'll be surprised at how far you will come in a year. It's good to remember, how far you both have come.

If you are more NH then training I can see why you may not like Stacy. She is not an NH trainer. She is a well proven well respected trainer who under stands what she is doing and how it affects the horse.

For me if I am going to pay money for a trainers DVD. They better have proven that what they do works out in the real world. For me PP has not even come close to doing that. Some of the others have to some extent.

When you look at getting DVDs from trainers I personally get the ones from people like Shawn, Tim Mcquay, Andriea (think I slaughtered his name) and even Stacy. These are trainers who not promoting DVDs or a system but showing you how they get the results they get.
