So about 2 year ago, a friend of mine named Julia gave me her horse Storm for free, but she claimed to say that she told me if I ever sold Storm I had to give her half back. I don't recall her EVER saying this or even agreeing to it and I have a really good memory.
I ended up selling Storm and she is extremely pissed off and saying that I need to give her half back, which would be $400 or give her some amount and my 10 month old Filly who is out of Storm. I told her no to both.
So... Story of Storm.
Julia bought her as a weanling from a local livestock auction, she halter broke her then sold her to a neighbor boy who trained her. He sold her back to Julia and she had her for a few years then sold her for $900 to someone else I know named Truda. Truda had her for about a year but then Storm got really pushy with her and she could no longer control her and sold her back to Julia for $900. Then Julia gave her to me. I've had her for about 2 years and I sold her because 1) I have to many horses to work with and I'm showing my neighbors which are getting me a lot farther than what Storm would and 2) I don't have the room for 2-3 horses at my place.
I have put a TON of training on this horse, everything from backing up, going on a loose rein, becoming traffic safe, being a respectful horse- she used to be EXTREMELY pushy, etc... I have also put money into her, been paying for hay/grain, and have paid for coggins, shots, teeth done, chiro work, and farrier. Storm had never had her teeth done before and the vet said they badly needed it done.
She was also mad at me for trying to sell Storm for $1200, but then I knocked her down to $900. Julia messaged me on Facebook and said Storm is not worth $900, she is worth $500, and went on saying Storm is a horrible horse that is worthless. She also went and told me neighbor, who is pretty much a grandpa to me that she would be willing to take Storm back for free and she would re-sell her for dirt cheap, like $200.
There is NO contract what-so-ever. Storm was over at her house for the past 2 weeks because we ran out of grass at my house and I plan on giving her $50 for staying in her pasture, Julia never went out there to even check on them.
I asked her what she would do if I gave her my filly, and she just said sell her. She is desperate for money. On un-employment, has major health issues, but yet she wants to buy my neighbor's horse who I showed last year and did extra training to make this horse work for her, plus our school does Day or Caring and I had them help her. The horse she wants to buy is $1200, and she wants to buy his trailer also that is $1400, yet she can barely make it as it is.
In this situation, what would you do?
I will be giving her $50 for the time she was over there, but about how she is claiming we made this deal. I never re-call it and my neighbor was there when she claims she made the deal and he doesn't remember her saying it either. It is also really hard to ignore her, and she is really good about talking bad about people.
