    I guess I don't understand why people feed "grain". I know it is a "normal" thing to do, but I wonder how many people give it out of habit without there being any need whatsoever. To me, that seems like a lot of non-hay to feed.

    Sky is a hard keeper. Without grain (and with 24/7 hay) he drops weight like crazy.

    It's calories that he can pack the fat on and turn some into muscle. The harder we work, the more calories he needs.

    Oh, and I got his teeth floated when I got the PPE. And I tried to step him off grain, but he started losing weight rapidl.

    Hmm... I have never heard of Bartlett feed before. Although, I am not too familiar with the different types of pellet brands so as long and he is doing well I it I don't see a problem on keeping him on that feed.

    Anyways, it sounds to me like you have the basics covered. Now go out there, and have fun with your horse! :)
