I'm in the final stage of buying a lovely horse. She's getting vetted tomorrow and I have a fair understanding of the process, but are there any questions that you always ask the vet? The horse will be used for dressage and is at 2nd level. I'm hoping to take her to 3rd at least. The vet will be doing the standard check as well as basic x-rays, which includes 6 views, what do you think the 6 standard views will be of?
Make sure the vet knows your intentions for her. Bring up any concerns you may have. Ask about any potential future issues (she will probably mention)That's all I usually do, but then again I've only had one horse I've actually "bought" myself. No xrays he is a trail horse and cost $750, so I can't answer your second question.
I actually did a "post purchase exam" (don't do this lol) and found out he had an old ddft injury and a slight heart murmer. Vet said wrap his legs when worked he will be fine. He won't be going to Rolex but he's perfectly suitable for me, which is what the vet said "he'll be fine for what you want him for".
You could also mention the price to the vet, see if it's fair. (Idk if it's proper etiquitte to do this but I know our vet personally so would ask)
