Welcome, and thanks for sharing. I also started riding at 50. Took lessons for almost 2 years prior to getting 2 horses. I've had a love for westerns and horses since I was a little girl. I still have a long way to go. Although I only plan on doing trail riding, I love watching some of the dressage classes and always want to learn more.

This is a good place to learn. I do most of my research here when there's something my instructor is trying to teach me that I don't really understand. People here is full of knowledge and don't mind sharing it with you when they understand what you're asking. You may get different opinions sometimes, but no 2 horses are exactly the same. What works with 1 may not always work with the other.

I arrive early and stay late simply to clean & muck.
I just like being around the horses, almost as much as I like to ride. Well, almost.
My post trot and two- point are still inconsistent, but I started jumping this past week and it was a remarkable feeling. I have no ill regrets for waiting so long, I'm just proud to say I'm a rider. How very cool !

My very best to you
Awesome story, too!

My Mom actually took about a half year of lessons on our first horse and she was 64 at the time. Now, we live together on a mini farm and she loves talking to & giving treats to Chuck (our QH). I laugh when I occasionally see her lugging around his NibbleNet after filling it as she is barely 5' tall and the net itself is 3.5'.
