For everyone that thinks there is less gun control in Canada -- read this list of prohibited firearms and ammunition in Canada. There is a list of 'restricted' arms that is just about as long. And, every single gun is 'registered'.

Prohibited firearms include:

Fully automatic weapons are not legal in the US (there are exceptions, but they are heavily regulated), so no one can strut w "any" weapoon they like.
Drug gangs carrying semi and fully automatic weapons scare me. And, they really scare unarmed law abiding Mexican citizens where gun ownership is difficult to achieve - these gangs often scare citizens to death even - w a few rounds.
Speed Racer and doubleopi like this.

It's double scary when Obama and his flunky Eric Holder are arming the drug gangs...

And it doesn't help when government officals are not punished but
Instead given better positions .
And example would be the former 2nd in command at the ATF
Ex-ATF official's gun ends up at Mexican cartel shootout that killed beauty queen | Fox News

A gun he bought ended up in Mexico where the Mexician beauty queen was killed,
And when he bought the gun he used the ATF's address on the registration form
On other registration forms he used the address of a strip mall.

We Canadians don't understand why someone feels they need an assault weapen when they aren't in the armed forces. When you constitution was written, what was the intent when it gave every American the right to bear arms. Weren't they using muzzle loaders then? Had anyone predicted the invention of the assault rifle there would likely have been a clause forbidding them.

Add to this that THOUSANDS of guns are purchased by known felons from gun shows and fleas markets with no background checks of any kind and no identification even asked for. The gun shows and flea markets in Oklahoma and all across Texas have Mexican Nationals waiting in every parking lot to buy the 'assault style' long guns, the high capacity clips and any large caliber handguns that people want to make a quick profit on.

We have a Sunday morning flea market about 3 miles down the road form me. It is one of the biggest and oldest in the state. Any Sunday morning you will find about 15 or 20 'non-dealers' with 20 or 30 or even 50 guns on tables that they will sell to ANYBODY with the cash -- no questions asked and no identification asked for. Many of these guns go straight to Mexico.

Someone tell me what good comes from the 'gun show loophole'? It makes all background checks and any efforts to keep guns out of the hands of convicted felons and and mentally unstable people a complete joke as well as facilitating the drug wars in Mexico.

All I can say is that I would really like to see them try. That's simply a war they can't win, especially in the southern states. I know for a fact in my little town of 500 people, at least 2/3 of the citizens have firearms...and those that have them often have more than one. I know of at least half a dozen people that have dozens (hunters mostly but a couple of gun enthusiasts).

IMHO, if the fed govt decides to try to come into our homes and take our guns, they will start a civil war...and they won't win. For that reason, I don't believe it will ever happen. I mean, after all, how many instances of "Soldiers killed by citizen defending their home and 2nd amendment rights" or "Citizen killed by soldiers attempting to seize handguns" would be all over every news channel in just in the first few hours of their "confiscation"?

Oh, and I don't know if it's this way in other states, but here in Texas, if the feds come in and try to start running stuff, the Sheriff can legally look at them and say "get the hell out of my county" and the feds have to because they have no jurisdiction over elected law enforcement officials here.

My Dad, who is a Texas County Sheriff, has read up on this and educated himself thoroughly about what the fed govt has the jurisdiction to do (or more importantly, what they don't have the jurisdiction to do). He has straight up told me "I prefer to have the citizens of my county armed. For every 1 person that might pose a risk to others, there are 100 that would willingly die, or kill, to protect others."

That is why the japanise didn't invade the west coast after pearl harbour
Attack, Adminal Yamamoto said there would be a gun behind every tree.

He knew it would be to costly for the japanise army.

SMR Texas is kind of it's own country anyway. LOL.......
