Clint Eastwood's Bizarre appearance at GOP convention

Did anyone listen to Clint Eastwood's bizarre speech at last night's GOP Convention. I thought he embarrassed himself and the GOP and Romney with his vulgar intimations. Is he getting senile? Did the GOP approve his speech. Did he go 'off script'? I thought it was pretty strange. I have not listened to FOX to see what kind of positive spin they could possibly give it.

What does everyone else think of it?

Well, I am a Republican, and I thought it was bizarre, too.

I don't see it as an embarrassment any more than I think similar statements/support from Hollywood liberal wackos has been an embarrassment to the Democrat party. Anyone that supports a candidate because of what some Hollywood yahoo thinks is an idiot to begin with.

I doubt it did much harm - people are, or should be, interested in the candidates, and which candidate can help us get out of the hole we are in. Was it a poor choice of venue? Absolutely - at least in my opinion. If the party wanted an endorsement from Clint Eastwood, it should have been via a speech at a fundraiser or a political ad - not from the floor of the convention.

Personally I think it was a stupid mistake because it interrupted the entire flow and atmosphere of the convention, but again I doubt it did much harm - if any. Although the liberals will laugh at it, we conservatives have been laughing at them for their Hollywood sycophants and mouthpieces for years...I doubt Clint Eastwood and Jon Voight influence any more independent votes one way or another than Rosie O'Donnell and Oprah Winfry - I certainly hope that Americans have a bit more snap than to let their favorite celebrity influence their vote...

It was more than dry. If it was any drier it would have been dry as a popcorn fart. I was actually embarrassed for the GOP. I guess that they did NOT approve their speech.

I would guess he is having mental lapses, after watching that horror

I've seen parts of it in news tonight. Perhaps he had a drink or two before the speech?

If he says "We own this country" and thinks that only Republicans own it, that's crazy.

And non-Republicans go around "hot doggin' it?"
Most of the folks I know who are Dems , are very low key and conservative in their displays of their political leanings. No hotdogging going on at all. I find that lately, it's the Conservatives whose behavior is anything but conservative.

Oh, and I thought the overall speech wasn't nearly as wierd as I had head it would be. He had some points. I disagree, but he had his points.

I'm not watching it, such a shame that an actor who gave me endless hours of viewing pleasure over the years is falling apart in the spotlight. It is a sad and sobering thought those of us galloping through middle age

What I find hard to believe is that the whole convention was choreographed down to each word and each second. And then they let an 82 year old man go up there with no notes, no teleprompter and no idea of what he is going to say. It upstaged the whole convention and the flow of the build-up to Romney's appearance. It became what the convention will be remembered for. They showed Ann Romney during the skit and the expression on her face told it all. It was pretty unbelievable.

And Yes! I wish my fond memories of Clint Eastwood had been left alone and did not include his saddest moment. I am afraid it is what he will be remembered for, too.

There were teleprompter's to his left and right although I'm guessing he wasn't reading off of them much. :)

Naw, it'll be a week or two of fodder for the late night comedians (especially the liberals) and will eventually be forgotten by the general public.

Frank Sinatra in his later years couldn't sing and had some dementia, but he's not remembered for that any more than Clint Eastwood will be remembered for this. It'll just be a sad, bizarre footnote to an otherwise illustrious career.
