Well said Allison in the above post.

To highlight the last part, the major problem is the Press, they are out to sell, they over dramatize and leave out facts, all in the name to sell advertising and keep ratings high.

When all the facts are found, the same press "might" revise the story on page 64, or on their 3am TV update, where almost no one will find it.

The Media is responsible for more heartache in this country than Politicians.

Nicely said allison but I'm afraid that may have been alot of typing for nothing. Missy has made up her mind about the deal so I believe I may be done with this. I'm done beating this dead horse.

I don't think Missy is a cop hater. Really.
I think Missy just questions things. And all the things she questions get the same degree of questioning, regardless of the subject.
While it does come across as accusatory, I don't think that is the main intent.

An interest in how things went down or what may have gone wrong and how could it have been done better can be gleaned from her posts and I can see some of it.

But Missy, this IS a touchy subject for some of us and the level it touches us is about the same if someone started saying some really awful things about yourkid(s) your family, or your country. Awful things about something that is the very heart of who you are. Maybe even worse.
The kind of things that would completely wrench your heart to hear.

Thank you for the popcorn. Beer for the others? You stashed some Kahlua for me, right? :)

What follow is not exactly a response to your very gracious and appreciated post, Lockwood, but it is "related". So, I made it a separate post.

Like I said earlier, I do not take the news personally. Yes, I do realise that some people are emotionally involved and react emotionally, ad hominem style.

To me, calling someone a "cop basher" or "cop hater" is equivalent to calling them terms I neither use nor will I type. That is not discussing the "news" content...it is an uncalled for and very personal attack.

It appears that it was missed that I stated that I never heard the "bad" terms used the title of the video (which is all audio), and that I felt it sounded reasonably professional. In fact, it was the most "objective" audio I could find (e.g., it was not people yelling on the ground). I also stated the case hearing file seems to be on the "up and up" after I located and read it. To those wanting to ensure their unfounded belief of my thoughts were not threatened - they either missed these and several other things, or called it "back tracking", taking it to the level of personal attacks - not discussing the subject at hand. Again, I have no personal investment in the news, I enjoy discussing the news content, not trying to read other people's minds and attacking them personally based on the results of my mind reading efforts. Trying to "prove" that I hate all people associated w the lapd has nothing to do w "the news", and requires mind reading capabilities. To me that is identical to accusinng someone of hating all black people on the basis they do not feel anything cops do should ever be questioned..and then making their racism the topic of discussion, and attacking them for it. I purposely didn't say "alleged" racism, b/c to be identical in nature I would have to treat it as "fact".

So, for those that this subject matter touches "personally" and makes emotions run high, yes I understand that. To have it affect one's objectivity is understandable, too. However, I do not think it justifies personal attack. I have made one personal comment in response to a personal attack...of which there were many. While it was in response personal attack, it is still poor form and I admit it.

And that comes as a surprise? Some people read what is written. Some read what they think is written. And some only read part of what is written. Some even shut their eyes, cover their ears, and sing la la la when they get to something they don't want to read or hear because they are convinced they know it all already.

    Sadly,...

Apparently this comment from Missy May to me is acceptable but what I retorted is not.

"Oh, sorry, I mistook your SEAL fwiw comment to mean something other than your visit to the zoo w your football helmet on."

I said something insulting about one person and that is not ok but saying something that is insulting one person and a WHOLE group of seizure victims and brain injury victims is perfectly fine.

I'll rephrase my deleted comment to make it more palatable.

Missy May is an extreme attention seeker and it doesn't matter if the attention is good or bad. If you agree with her ill informed postulates then it's all good but, God Forfend you dare disagree with her, she'll become insulting and try to bully whomever tries to present another opinion.

See-now I thought her "SEAL" comment was directed at me, since I referred to the SEALS in an earlier post here, and it is my signature. She made a sort of effort at a half way apology? I think? But, I at least in my case, she can keep it. Totally uncalled for, IMO, and, in my case, as well as yours-both people we have referred to here deserve respect and honor.

She says "we" (those of us who she disagrees with, apparently) have called her names like "cop hater, etc, but I have reread this entire thread and see no name calling at all.
