    Pope Benedict XVI

    Is resigning Feb. 28, 2013
Citing lack of physical and mental strength as the reason.

I am not Catholic, but this is a biggie in the world picture.

Im not religious but do respect the position. This actually ups my esteem of Pope Benedict, most popes don't admit they are getting old and can no longer handle the job.

If you believe in prophecies, this next Pope to be elected
In March will be the last one.

What prophecies? Funny how everyone was having conniptions when Benedict was chosen, as all the 'prophets' were proclaiming he'd be the last one before the Apocalypse. I'd even heard looney-tunes craziness that he would turn out to be the Anti-Christ. Yeah, not so much.

If you believe the Bible, not even Christ knows the day and time of the end of the world, only the Father. So all these doomsday predictors are at best nuts, and at worst false prophets and agents of Satan.

I think he's doing a good thing. John Paul II also had plans to retire, but he died before he could announce it. At 85 y/o, Benedict is tired and frail. He should be allowed to live his remaining years without having to deal with the rigorous duties of the Papacy.

Ah, the controversial prophecies of St. Malachy. They're believed to be forgeries.

Again, only God knows the day and time of the end of the world.

I don't know why people insist on going nuts over these crazy prophecies. Look at all the lunacy over the Mayan calendar ending. It had nothing to do with the end of the world, but people took it that way.

Christ said to keep yourself ready, as did the bridesmaids waiting for the bridegroom. Be ever vigilant, and live your life well. After all, even if the Apocalypse doesn't happen in this lifetime everyone has their own death to face, so the end of the world will be very real to each of us at some point.

Some people just can't exist without a good conspiracy theory or false prophecy - life is just so dull without them!!!
