As far as putting the pedophile priests in prison that's hardly up to the Church, it's up to local law enforcement. The Church did some covering up which was scandalous and inexcusable, but unfortunately there's a statute of limitations on pedophilia charges. The new Pope's past is rather disturbing, it's been on the News on TV, on a couple different channels. Apparently, decades ago, he was involved in the abductions of two Jesuit priests who were kidnapped/tortured by the military/death squads. There was a 2005 lawsuit about this. Supposedly Bergoglio did finally testify in court, but only after twice refusing to appear in court. Sounds like he has a few skeletons in his closet. Not surprising.
