I have an AR-15 purchased during the Clinton Assault Weapon Ban, it was purchased legally because at the time they made them without the flash suppressor and therefor legal to purchase and own.

What do I do with it?
I have gone Rabbit Hunting and also Target Shooting.
For shooting rabbits it is great at 150 yards, ever try to sneak up on a rabbit and get a shot at 20-30 yards with a regular rifle? ..lol...
Target shooting is great, I do not have to re-load it every 5 shots like most other guns (way to boring and a pain), our competition is at 100 yard, 300 yards and 500 yards.

What makes it an assault rifle per the media and the ill-informed? The fact that it has a pistol grip.. A pistol grip only makes the gun easier to hold and safer.... but the sheeple believes that a pistol grip turns it into some kind of green eyed monster with it's only purpose to cause mass terror.

We have tens of thousands of gun laws that are not enforced, will more laws do any good? Education, Training about guns and enforcement of existing laws needs to happen 1st, imo

    Here's ANOTHER Illinois law.
If you litter 3 times in my state you have committed a FELONY.
I'll search for more Intelligent Laws in my state to educate the sheeples.

STG I don't hunt so I have never tried to bag a rabbit or any other wildlife.
After seeing what a bullet can do to a human body I don't enjoy firing a weapon.
I do own a couple of handguns and a shot gun but would never own an assualt rifle.
There are guns for hunting and for target practice. There are also guns manufactured for the military and for combat. Those should be reserved for the troops in combat not for recreational use.
If keeping an assualt rifle out of the hands of a potential mass shooter keeps one out of yours I have no problem with that. As long as you can buy another type of gun why is it so important to own a rifle that the military uses?
I am very certain that you, Faceman, Darrin and most of the other members of this forum are emotionally secure and rational people. I can tell from your post Not everyone is though Shalom

Leave it to Fox/Faux News... You may want to get the facts of this story correct...
He bought the rifle to prove a point...

    Quote:"
In his posting, Kelly said he went to a gun store in Tucson, Ariz., to buy a 45.-caliber handgun. As he was leaving, he noticed a used AR-15 rifle and bought it as well. He noted how easy it was to buy the rifle.

"Even to buy an assault weapon, the background check only takes a matter of minutes," Kelly wrote. "Scary to think of people buying guns like these without a background check at a gun show or the Internet. We really need to close the gun show and private seller loop hole."

But Kelly didn't actually walk out with the rifle. The owner of the gun shop told The Associated Press that Kelly bought the weapon on March 5 but because he had bought it used from a customer, the store was legally required to hold the gun for 20 days to make sure it hadn't been used in a crime.

Kelly said in his post that he didn't have possession of the gun yet, and that he will turn the rifle over to Tucson's police department when he does receive it."

Quote:"WASHINGTON -- Mark Kelly, husband of former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) and a vocal gun control advocate, told CNN Monday that he had recently purchased an assault weapon to demonstrate the need for stricter gun laws."

Unfortunately Fox News likes to leave out some important key facts. It's difficult to stay informed because of that.

It appears to me that while it may have been easy to buy the gun it wasn't easy to get it as he still has to wait 20 days.
Is he not supporting the gun industry by buying guns? Or is the plan to buy all the guns & turn them into the police?
He's still keeping the .45? "Honey! Come here & see what I bought!"

The current issue/gun debate tho isn't about .45s though. It's about the AR-15. That was his point.
His issue is with the assault style rifle, so that is why he did that, showing how easy it was to buy one.

And, the reason the gun was held for 20 days was because he bought it used, from a customer....

I know, I was just messing with you.
He could have found out he could buy it without actually buying it.
