Unintended consequences of Obamacare? A letter to Harry Reid

Here is the letter without any rhetoric for your review. It is a letter asking for a delay in the implementation of the medical device excise tax.

Well, that was a waste of ink. Harry doesn't care what is good for the US.

As I am sure you know, I do not feel Obamacare was passed on the "up and up". Any politician that strongly believes no one needs to know what is a bill b/c they know what is best for the rest of us, imo, has left the US process all together...not to mention the spirit of the constitution. And, I would feel that way regardless of how much I agreed w the content.

And, it would take to much typing to go into what he did w Yucca Mnt. In short, he blackmailed the government and private industry out of billions for as looong as he could by pretending he didn't want it, and then calling for closed meetings when they said they would pull out..for years!!! In the end, he "won". If anyone really looked at nuclear power w/o a biased, and spent fuel they would realize how insane that was. Most advanced countries reprocess it, but that's another story. W/o proper storage it shuts down the industry and/OR causes catastrophic accidents such as those experienced in Japan. Japan's spent fuel rods were ON SIGHT b/c the "can't put it anywhere" anti's are global. That is what caused the most environmental damage, not the contained reactor. US Plants literally HAVE to store it on sight, not by choice - but b/c of Harry and the like. It can be safely stored and it can be reprocessed. The amount of money that has been spent trying to navigate the "antis" in the US is astronomical. I think of Harry every single time I see some poor purely innocent fellow creature drenched in oil and dying a slow and painful death. Oh, and btw, Harry decided it was good to have a "special interest group" (anti yucca group) paid for by the taxpayer..not by nrg mil $, actually directly paid for by the government. I find that 100% unconstitutional, not to mention not good for america. I would feel that way if it were for any cause. I think anyone can see the danger in it.

Oh, and his son Rory....just a chip off the old block, hello China.

I could go on and on. I will admit he did "push" a few good things, to do w Indian water rights in N Nevada. I agree w them, whereas many do not, but is was the right thing to do. He did not write them...but it "looked good" to back them. On the other hand, he stood completely silent on some extremely environmentally devastating water "deals" w LV. Back to Yucca...was the envinment really his concern? Its what suits HARRY - not NV, not the US.

Overall and in general, he feels he is nuclear tipped and above "the system", you know...the US "system", IMO. More like a dictator feels, not a public servant.

OK, so your dismissal in your post was of the man, not specifically the letter in the OP and its content?

More or less. If there is something in it for Harry for the entire US workforce to lose their jobs...consider them unemployed. IMO.

All the signatures are Democrat Senators. All but one voted for Obamacare, that Senator was only recently elected (2012). Obamacare contains 20 new or higher taxes one of which is the Medical Device Tax. Small businesses and individuals cannot fight these taxes and hikes (ie. Tanning tax, individual and employer mandates)…larger companies can and will. Now, the Senate it seeing that the medical device excise tax hurts businesses in their states and they want to delay it. If they delay it, they can do so indefinitely and still add the possible guessitmated revenue to their balance sheet. If they vote to repeal it, it opens up debate for additional amendments or repeals. In short, they are now beginning to see some of the unintended consequences associated with Obamacare - at least from a business standpoint .

Kevin, do you really put much credibility in anything that an insurance CEO is saying? Maybe he has an axe to grind about having his charges scrutinized?

I'm not tax savvy enough to decipher the other links. However, they are from such conservative sites I suggest they have been expanded in the fear factor.

Talk to me about this Next December.
Obamacare was passed into law but nobody has gotten services, or, more importantly, paid for it YET. It reminds me of those discount furniture/electronics stores that sell you an item that doesn't require payment for one year.
You have been duped. This is a law which wasn't read by a great many of Congress that voted "yes" for it. Remember, no Republicans voted "yes" for it. Would YOU sign a contract that you had not read? I wouldn't. Nancy Pelosi said, "We have to pass the (healthcare) law to know what's in it."
Btw, many critics of the law have read all 2,000+ pages and many now can tell you exactly what is in it.
I believe that our Congress should ALWAYS read and understand the laws that they burden us with. SO MANY laws are duplicates of those already on the books. You will start hearing stories of cash-strapped towns and cities (like Stockton, CA., and, of course Detroit, MI.) that begin enforcing laws not being enforced now bc the fines will raise their revenue. I personally like the late 1990's story of the Hillary Clinton supporter who was fined bc she mailed Hillary a dreamcatcher except it had woven in it "songbird" feathers. Pretty much EVERY backyard bird is considered a songbird, and they all molt feathers on your lawn. Songbird feathers are illegal to own, so her gift was illegal. Our Federal Congress wrote this law, bless their little piggy toes.
Let's get one thing straight, Legislation--that's "laws" to those of you in Rio Linda--that forced banks to issue loans to people without the means to pay for them caused the housing crises. Even then, it wasn't until ~2005 and the "N.I.N.A." loans, no INCOME, no ASSETS, and the sales of such that we came to a financial crises. It wasn't the "Bush" tax RATES (not cuts, since they were our tax rates for over 10 years,) that caused the 2008 financial collapse. SInce 2008 I listened to a LOT of tv and radio news stories from many sources, including NPR, where I heard the story (in 2009) about the people who bought and sold these worthless loans, making a LOT of dough, and spending it on $1,000 bottles of champagne and the like.
ALL it was was a power-play, a way to control people by taking away their choices. In the UK last year 2 popular actors died--one played "Sara Jane" in Dr. Who--all bc they were too old to be treated by public health rationing. TODAY, all sick infants that are not recovering are being sent home...to die. (Story out a few days ago, and I know that you'll be able to find it online.) Perhaps they should just be exposed at birth, like the ancients did. Maybe it's just a late-term abortion, and I'm stupid.
All I know is that Harry Reid won't read anything he doesn't agree with. He hasn't brought Any Republican bills up for comment or debate since he become speaker. Writing him a letter is a waste of good paper...or I'Net time.
