Maybe i'm oblivious but I really don't see what race has to do with this.

How can anyone argue the fact that the economy is a hundred times better then what it was 6 years ago?

    100 times better........??

I really do not have the time, nor does the Forum have that much bandwidth to refute that statement, while I will agree it is getting better, we have a long, long, long way to go.

Again, I don't live in the US. But I have followed enough to know that things are far better then they were when he took office. Given what he had to work with I think he's done a pretty darn good job. I think most people are bent out of shape because he wants to change the health care system. Which I think would be great. I am so sick of reading stories where people need medical care but can't afford to go to the doctor or the hospital.

Maybe you haven't looked at the debt, lately. He doesn't "want"' to change it, it has done been changed (i.e., it is law).

I know the debt is insanely large(I don't know the numbers, again all I know is what I read and hear from friends who live in the US). However how is it fair that when someone breaks their arm they will wait and wait and wait hoping its a sprain because they can't afford the medical bill?

I have a friend who lives in NJ, she was having an asthma attack and refused the hospital because she couldn't afford the bill.

All is well and good when you luck into a job with health benefits but not every job offers them.

There are lots of other places to take cuts, the health care system should not be one of them. Canada has "free" health care and while our taxes might be a tad higher then other places at least we are able to get the care we need without a fear of bankruptcy because we got a $30, 000 hospital bill.

More then likely I shouldn't even be in this thread since I don't live in the US and don't feel the full impact.

Whether one believes obama care is/was the only and best solution to affordable health care is separate from overall economic health...and no matter how you slice it, the debt vs revenue ratio ain't healthy.

I have great insurance, I rarely get sick and I do not run to the doctor every time I sneeze. People talk about those that are denied care, but not so much about those that abuse a system (any system) when it is "free". Nor do they look at the line item costs/profit of the health care industry, or legal costs. Nope, it just "should" be free. Interestingly, this is seen on a horse forum where people worry about vet costs. I have a good stash of vet supplies, and I know how to use them...I don't call the vet everytime one of my horses gets a scratch, either. I do call the vet when there is need..sometimes it turns out there was not (i.e., the outcome would have been the same) - but the call is always justified. If I did call the vet whenever they got a scratch I would and should go into debt for being that ignorant. The difference is, I personally would go bankrupt as a result....your bank account, on the otherhand, would not suffer.

The Natioanal Debt is now 16.4 Trillion Dollars, it was 10.7 Trillion 4 years ago. That is a raise of 5.7 Trillion in 4 years.
The evil Bush everyone talks about raised the National debt 4.9 Trillion in 8 years.
We borrow 46 cents of every dollar we spend currently.
Do the math and draw your own conclusions

Obamacare will make your friend purchase Health Insurance, yes if she makes below poverty wages the Taxpayers will help her pay for it. If she makes above poverty level wages, she pays the whole monthly Healthcare Premium.
But then there is still deductibles she will have to pay even when she uses the mandated Policy.

Obamacare is not as great as the Media wants you to think it is

Who said anything about going to the hospital for every scratch?

I will use myself as an example just because I can.

This summer I had carpal tunnel surgery($$$) two months later I fell off my horse and smashed the same hand and my head, had to go to emerg for xrays and make sure I didn't hurt myself worse as I couldn't turn my head, more $$$ not to long after that I crashed again(first ride back actually) and dislocated my hip and separated my SI, so ambulance and more $$$ needed to go to physio, more $$$. A few months later my hand and wrist are still sore, go to the doctor($$$) he sends me for an xray again($$$) the xray didn't show enough so I had to go for an anthrogram($$$) follow up doctor visit to find out there are ligamints torn in my wrist so I now need to go to the orthopedic and possibly surgery $$$$$$$$$$$

If I lived in the US I would be going bankrupt by this time. Its not that I went for every little scratch or boo boo, but I had a string of bad luck. Can we say thank you Canadian health care system?

What if you didn't have health insurance and were in a car accident like WSArabians was in before Christmas? Think of the damage that would have done to her bank account living in the US. Not only can she not work, she would also be paying out the arse for medical bills.

THAT is the point I am trying to say. Not those who run to the doctor for a runny nose.
