He sounds like a big sweetheart. Why is your family against a donkey?

My husband used to be against them, but I talked him into a large donkey (mammoth stock, but barely height-wise) a quite a few years ago and we just loved that long ears. He wasn't gelded when we got him, so that was done then as a 6 year old and he was sweet as could be and fit in well with our herd. Unfortunately I had to sell him a couple years back when I was laid off.

Now we have a mini donkey in with our two mini mares and we just adore her.

    Hi Cat
Family is not specifically against a donkey, more against me getting any more animals at the moment. My MIL has had back surgery this year that went really bad resulting in her being paralysed and in bad pain. My FIL had a massive heart attack earlier in the year and now has a built in defibrilator to keep him on track. Hubby is very busy with the farm as his parents used to do a bit to help out, our other business takes up a lot of my time (like 5 days a week), and somewhere in there we fit in the two kids who are 11 and 9 yrs old. We all live on the same farm, the in-laws house is about 50 meters from ours.
Between us we have 4 dogs (2 working dogs and 2 pets), 2 cats, a cocky, fish, 2 pet sheep, 1 pet calf and our pony. (who we are semi-reeducating) This is in addition to the 800 sheep and 80 cattle we run on the farm.
I get their point, I'm pretty busy. But whats one more to add to the chaos, right? LOL
I might have found the donkey a good alternative home, so fingers crossed.

Wow - that is a lot on your plate. I hope either way something works out for the donkey!
