Aw. Don't feel bad. We have 3 that I need to re-home and hubby won't let me. The one, a quaker, is his baby, but he can't spend time with her much anymore because of his health. The other quaker I got when he was a little naked hatchling. I'm out of the house 16 - 18 hours a day, so other than rubbing his tummy through the cage as I come and go he gets little attention, and now he's starting to pluck his feathers out from frustration. Poor little guy.

The other is the cutest most happy little lovebird. She's a total clown. She was handfed, but we bought her as a companion for a lovebird that we found. He was being chased by another big wild bird and flew right into the neighbors house. Poor guy was nearly starved to death. Once he had a full belly he bit the crumbs out of me. So we took him to a breeders house and let him roam with the other baby birds and he picked her out himself. He died a couple years ago. I'd love to find someone that has one that she gets along with so she'd have a companion again.

These are my freinds parakeets, they don't really have a name. I use to have a blue parakeet named Whitney ,but I can't find any pics of her!

I was thinking of getting my mom a parrot-type bird. Any comments from anyone? I need a bird that is trainable and has a life-span of at least 10 years, preferably at least 20 years. My mom lives alone now and refuses to get a dog, cat or other such animal because "they all die and I've had enough death in my life" (how morbid, eh?)

Merry Christmas Mom! *as she's wiping the spit out of her eye*

My Mom would totally flip out if I got her a kitten!

Get her a cockatiel or parakeet. There fun. You could get a green cheek conure (like I had) but there $300+ in the pet store and the sun conures (orange and red ones) are like $500. Prettyy pricey I must say. ;)

Hey I have learned that with quaker parrots if they don't get much attention you should move all there toys around at least twice a week cause they get bored easily. Make sure they have plenty of toys in there cage hope this works.
