    Talking Buggz bunny!!!

I had to add to my family of oversized animals so I bought a 20 week old Flemish Giant boy. His name is Buggz (I'm not very creative) and he's about 5lbs right now. After this nasty winter weather has past he will be living outside and brought in for playtime and snuggles. I'm having a slight problem finding outdoor rabbit hutches within my price range that will fit a 20lbs 30inch bunny. I'm leaning towards chicken coops now.

My question. Can anyone share any farm and garden websites with bunny hutches or chicken coops? All the pet places in my area have pricey hutches that he won't fit in when he's fully grown.
Below is Buggz and my two dane boys. My larger dane Zeus (black and white) isn't sure about him and Buggz chases him around my living room when he wants to snuggle.

You could always build him a little wire sided shed that way you don't have to worry about him out growing it and three sides can be insulated for winter weather, and you can add cute little houses and such for him to play in. All you would really have to do is floor it like a stall and bed it and pooper scoop it, or you could just potty train him, I know rabbits are easily potty trained... Just some ideas. He is tooo cute!

What I've noticed is he sleeps in his pee and stinks when I go to snuggle him. He's been getting his feet soaked before snuggles so I'm thinking of either wood panel flooring with little gaps or think spaced wire flooring with a layer of straw and hay over the bottom.

I just don't have the materials or the know how to build him a custom one and in the end it would run me about the same as if I were to buy one. I'd have my dad build it but he's so busy it wouldn't get done. Potty training is an option but my house gets so hot inside when it's sunny that outside is cooler so that's why I want to move him outside when the weather shapes up.

I realize that this thread is probably irrelevant now, but I just thought I would still comment. I had a rabbit whose cage was too small and he lived outside. We made it to block him from the wind and whatnot and I kept asking my dad to build him one. Well, It cost the same amount to buy one but building it gives you a wider range of options on how to build it. I'm not even joking when I say this, but I literally FORCED my dad to build the cage since winter was coming and if he didn't do it now, he would never do it. Well he build it. It was 2x the size of the crap metal one we bought originally and he had an outdoor area and an indoor.. he always pooped over a pan we got from tractor supply so the front area was the eat & business area. This summer I want to finish it by completing the bottom portion which he can always go down to and dig in the dirt (theres no grass in the shaded area he's in)

Anyways, I recommend you try to eventually make something like that because it can go YOUR way for the same amount of money and be better suited for your rabbit. Remember that I made mine for 2 rabbits so it was doubled in everything.

But chicken coops are good if you have 1 rabbit, or they don't fight at least. As long as they have a little hidden house (w/ tile in the summer & shavings in the winter) he can live outside, ESP. Because he's a big breed :)

I already had one custom built. Took me forever to find someone to do it. I ended up asking a clients dad who raises meat rabbits and he said if I drew up the plans he would build one. 7 feet long 3 feet wide and 3 feet tall raised off the ground about 2 feet since im short. Surrounded on 3 sides. It was built off my plans. He won't be an only outdoor bunny. During the nasty months he will be inside like he is now. He gets full run of the dog room upstairs.
My dad is literally WAY to busy. He retired on 03 from being a lawyer and a professor as the law school so he wouldn't be so busy and now he is busier than he was before.

Yeah I try to get my dad to do things when he's at home on the weekends and I help him so its usually not AS much work.

But wow that's awesome! I would keep mine inside except my mom wont allow it and just other stuff, although I think its happy outside! He loves it in the summer when I let him out to eat grass, although we're building a small run that we can put wherever, esp because if he's not in one, he runs and we have no fence :P

Yeah I'll be putting in a run where he is contained in the summer for a bit of time during the day. I'll probably just buy one large enough for an outside break and eat and run around.
