A cat with a growth - opinions, please!
My friend's cat has a very large, hard growth on his leg. It's huge - at least half of the size of a fist. Anyways, I really feel they should get this cat checked out as it very well could be cancerous. It isn't bugging him (as far as anyone can tell) but then suddenly this week the cat lost a TON of weight all of a sudden. May or may not have anything to do with the growth, but it is still cause for concern.
My friend's mom refuses to take the cat to the vet. She says if it is a cancerous growth, they'll probably just remove his entire leg and he'll be "miserable" for the rest of his life. This completely shocks me - apparently she'd rather he die of cancer than only have 3 legs?
I obviously realize I cannot do anything for him, he is her cat. Her attitude about it just really bothers me, so I guess this is partially a rant.
Anyone have any opinions? Words of advice?
