Cheaper keeper? Opinions please.

I am considering getting a new pet. I was wondering what you think would cost more including buying of the animal, depending on which one, cage, leash, vetting bills (injections and such), and the price of upkeep. What do you think would be cheaper a pet ferret or a toy dog.

Where do you buy ferrets? They aren't at pet stores are they??

They aren't at pet stores near here, but there are adds in the paper and such.

Probably a toy dog. Ferrets need large cages, have fairly expensive food, and aren't easy keepers. THey need HOURS of play everyday. Plus, they need vaccinations just like dogs. From what I've heard, they often have expensive medical care as they age too.
