Up here in the Pacific NW we have some hummers called Annas and they overwinter here. The feeder will be frozen solid, temps at 17 degrees F and they are waiting outside my sliding glass door for me to thaw the feeder. They are desperate for calories, having been in hybernation (I don't know the correcct word) overnight. They slow down their bodies, heart, breathing and metabolisim to almost the point of death. Them reanimate at sunrise. Most amazing!
