    ducks in heaven

Now that our computer is up and running again I'm finally able to get some pics of the ducks on that I've been waiting to post. We got them a pool, which they love, until we got massive amounts of rain that caused our pasture to flood and they were in duck heaven! The water only lasted about three days and they refused to go in their pool for three days after it disappeared. It was such a pleasure watching them in that water just being ducks, we've decided we're going to install a small pond on our property somewhere just for them.

Okay, it's not letting me get them from my computer so I'll have to resort to Photobucket. Be right back...

That so cute! When our paddock flooded, our 4 ducks wouldn't go back into the dam. It was like a 2nd pond

That's so cute! I bet they loved it and were very very sad when it was gone. :( Poor duckies.

I want to get ducks so bad! When we were downstate at Tractor Supply and some other farm store they had baby ducks. I don't think they would have liked the trip back up and all the way across the UP though :(. My mom said maybe next year she will get some from a lady at work though! Seeing yours makes me want them even more now haha!

I got 3 ducks for my nieces from Tractor Supply and they turned out to be Cayuga ducks. TS wasn't selling that type, only Pekins, Mallards, and Khaki Campbells, so don't know how they ended up in there, but ended up getting 2 drakes and 1 hen. The one drake will attack people, so he is not so fun anymore. Haha. Looks like they are going out to the pond and hopefully my donkey doesn't mind them!

I want some ducks pretty bad but I'm afraid either the dogs will kill them or they will head for the watershed ponds across the road
    Great photos

That is odd PalominoStarsky that you got Cayugas from TSC! We can tell that three of the four Rouens (mallards) are going to be male. I hope the fourth is a hen.

Vida, my husband's bird dog, Ace, doesn't touch the ducks. I don't know what kind of dogs you have, but they can be taught to leave the ducks alone. Also Ace will kill every wild rabbit he can find on our property, but he could care less about the girls' pet rabbits.

Ha ha! I guess they understand who's part of the family and who isn't. :)
