    Great Dane lovers?

Hey guys! So I've been really looking at the breed and the bf and I have decided we are going to find a good breeder and get a puppy in a couple years. I was just wondering if anyone else owns this breed?

I've been around GDs my whole life. My great aunts were judges and breeders, and when my aunts passed away we kept one of the dogs. Some things to keep in mind - the hair sticks everywhere, they will sleep in your bed, sit on your lap and can range in activity levels. Our dane would've been fine in an apartment, but others need a lot of space to burn off the energy.
Now I'm older-ish, my husband and I are looking to get a dane (we'll probably do the rescue thing). They are lovely dogs.

My bfs family bred years ago and are excited we're looking at getting one. They do seem to range in activity levels but most seem like loveable goofs. We're looking to buy from a breeder so I can check the health of the parents and other dogs from the line and have something as healthy as possible. I've rescued other breeds in the past but have heard of the monster vet bills that come with a poorly bred giant dog. We may rescue later in life, always have an open heart for that.

Thanks for your input! Good luck in your search!
