I want a snake. Mom says only when I'm out of her house.

I really really want a pet snake. I love them. There's so... so... well... COOL.

The thing is, my mom has said that she doesn't have a problem with snakes, but that I can only get one when I'm out of the house and in college. I don't get it... only a couple months ago she said "Yes, you can get one, just not now. I can't deal with another pet right now".

The only pet we have right now is a dog. A dog that really isn't much trouble at all. And anyways, who said that my mom would be the one feeding the snake, and taking care of the snake, etc. I would be willing to use all of MY money to pay for the terrarium and everything! She wouldn't have to lay down a penny!

Is there ANYTHING I can say that might weedle her into agreeing? I'm willing to wait until we go back to the States if need be... because that's when my Dad said that he'd be perfectly fine with it. All HE said is that he doesn't want to go through the trouble of trying to find a snake (since snakes just don't exist in pet stores here, and breeders and few and far between), but that it'll be OK when we go back to the States, since we can't have a dog in our house there.

If you want a stable friendship, get a horse.

well..i got my first snake, Rocco, for my 13th bday..he was kinda old when we got him so he died a year later
my dad loved him and thought he was so fun! so to help us both cope with the loss, he got my second snake Ruby for free from a friend.

hmm..you can tell your mom that it will teach you a new line of responsibility

if someone 'gives their two cents' when its just a penny for their thoughts..where does that extra penny go?
