More bad news....

The little beagle/bassett/blue tick hound mix puppy that we'd saved several months back finally went to a home a week ago. Our daughter's boyfriend wanted her and his father said that was fine with him.

I was a bit hesitant, but stressed to him that she had to be on a leash when walked and kept as an indoor dog and that if it didn't work out for any reason she had to come back to us. We've never ever been willing to adopt a dog, especially a puppy, to anyone unless they had a fenced yard. We made an exception. Unfortunately.

The inevitable happened. I found out today that yesterday she got out of the house, ran in the road, and was hit by a car. I'm just sick. She'd only been spayed 2 weeks before that. She was such a happy little girl. Finally coming out of her shell, becoming social. Everything was finally going well for her. And now I feel like I sentenced her to death. ****....

Oh no! It's not your fault at all, people should be responsible enough to be watchful of a young dog, and careful of their whereabouts. This said it sounds more like a freak accident.
Don't be too hard on yourself, at least you know she had a lovely last few months with you.

Aww! How sad. I'm sorry to hear this. But as .A.J. Said at least she had some happy times with you.

It's not the will to win, but the will to prepare to win that makes the difference.

This isn't YOUR fault. I'm sorry for the loss but don't beat yourself up about it. You did everything you could while you had her. It really was out of your hands. (((((hugs))))

Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Don't be afraid or discouraged by the size of the task, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.
