Fair enough. I decided on a Budgie as they are the easiest to care for, lol!

I love all the different colour variations there are as well.

Plus mine has a really pretty chirp! I hope I can teach him to talk!

Yay! I just posted pictures on a budgie forum. They said it's a girl, (boy was I wrong!) and a cobalt spangle, which is the exact colour I wanted!

    Now to think of names...

Wow, I was wrong too. Not surprising.
How could they tell it was a girl?

Hee, I was going to say maybe female. The cere is whitish -- my little boys' was purple and pink with this little bit of blue sheen when I got him. I think that females, when they're young, are more white than pink/purple. I'm not sure if it's too consistent though. Either way, that is an absolutely gooorrrgeous little bird! Spangle is my favorite marking, for sure. :) My little boy is a dilute cobalt opaline, I think. Congratulations -- and seriously, good luck with her/him, it sounds like you're doing awesome so far!

Yeah, I think in baby birds the female cere is blue with white around the nostrils... Maybe. Lol. But they seemed pretty certain so I will trust them!

Thanks Lunaries! Cobalt spangle was what I dieally wanted from the research I did, so pretty. I was just lucky to stumble across one the first time I looked! I love the blue budgies. I also really like the blue/green ones, the jade-ish colour. I'm having so much fun setting up her cage etc. I'm buying some fruit and vegies for her today and will try to set up some foraging ideas soon...
