My cat has been gone for more than a week :(

I've just moved into my own apartment, and I brought two cats, Shavlon who I've had for 5 years and Belze who I havn't had much at all.. after 10 days I let them both out (they're both outdoor cats who're used to go out and in as they please, and I live on bottom floor in a quiet neighbourhood with very little traffic, so I can't imagine keeping them locked up, not even after this..)
Belze came back almost immediatly, but the last thing I saw of Shavlon was when she explored a bush some metres away.. she never came back in and now it's more than a week ago (8 days to be exact)..

I'm so worried! She was sterelized, had a tattoo and a reflctive collar with a name tag on so if someone found her they should have made contact, don't you think? :(

I've put up notes, called the police, looked everywhere I can think of and access, drove slowly through the few streets and looked for her body, been out calling.. but nothing.. nobody has calld or anything..

Now I know she can care for hersel, she's a good hunter, it's not very cold and there's lts of rainwater..but it's not like her to be gone very long at all on a new place, she's somewhat shy and normally always rushes back to home/safety on new places (which is why I don't think she's stolen, she'd be hard to catch for any stranger, but she should be easy to spot, most of the cats here doesn't have her colour) and..it's really not like her!

I don't live far away from her old home, but she hasn't been pottd there either, my dad's looking. And it's just less than an hours walk from here.. she shiuld have shown up if that's where she was heading..

So.. either she cant find her way..which both is a litte werd to be her and she should have been seen by someone..or.. - and this I just don't want to think of- she's locked up in some storage room and has probably suffered a long, cruel death with no food or water...
That's what I'm told in the other forums..and..that's just not what I wanna hear..I want her to come back!

Oh, Zab. ((hugs)) I have been in that same boat. I had 2 cats and was living in my own apartment. I was on the 2nd floor and they were both indoor cats (they had been de-clawed and everything). Anyway, I left the glass patio door open one night, but the screen door was closed. The next morning, I went to feed them and neither one would come when called. I started to get nervous and started searching the apartment for them. I found Kovu sitting just inside the open screen door. I don't know how they got it open to this day but Misha was nowhere to be found. I looked, drove the streets, put up fliers, contacted animal control and the humane society. He had a collar with tags with his name and my phone number on them. I searched and searched and got several calls that ended up not being him. He disappeared on May 11 and I had almost given up hope when I got a phone call on August the 6th from a lady who said, "I think I found your cat. He was under my storage shed and he has a blue collar with the name 'Misha' on it." I was ecstatic. I brought him home where he lives happily to this day. Sleeping in his favorite place, on my back. LOL.


All I can tell you is to not give up hope, even when it seems impossible. Keep looking and believe that she will come home or you will find her. Try not to think about what could have happened. Cats are natural survivors.

I'm so sorry Zabs. Last december, I lost my Little Man. He was the best thing that ever happened to me, ran to only me and wanted to be cuddled. At just over a year he got hit by a car. I don't think I will ever get over that loss, I'm sobbing on my key board right now, I still cry at least once a week.

I read a book by this lady who used her bloodhound to find lost pets and she seems to have some great tips to help people find their lost pets on their own too. =) Recovery Tips: Displaced Cat Behavior | Missing Pet Partnership I only put it to the "displaced" cat one because you had just moved, there are links there to help you find lost cats too, I didn't read it all to see how different the info was.

Both the cats are gone, Belze disappeared shortly after Lonna. I havn't seen them in months and I really miss them..
