    Cats can be spayed at a very young age; most rescues won't adopt out kittens unless they're spayed/neutered, which can be as young as 8 weeks in some cases and well before they have their first heat. So at almost a year old, I'd consider taking her in to get spayed and ask any questions you might have about her growth (or lack there of!) at that time.
